Senior Strategic Advisor - Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Resilience

The Senior Strategic Advisor will lead the integration of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and climate adaptation strategies across UNDP's regional portfolio. Key responsibilities include: developing strategic frameworks for emergency preparedness, overseeing early warning systems implementation, coordinating with national governments on climate change mitigation policies, leading rapid needs assessments during humanitarian crises, and managing multi-million dollar grants from international donors including GCF and GEF. Requirements: Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change, or related field. Demonstrated expertise in grants management, strategic M&E frameworks, and climate finance mechanisms. Fluency in English required; knowledge of French or Arabic an asset. Certification in DRR or Climate Change highly desirable. The position demands frequent travel to crisis-affected regions and represents the organization at the highest policy levels.
